Helly Hansen Ambassador Jackie Passo completed the Freeride world tour Verbier event in style and came in at an overall third place for the season. Jackie sent us some words on the event and the season in all.
Verbier Xtreme's - The Final Stop
I just finished up with the final stop of the Freeride World Tour for the 2013 season. It took place in Verbier, Switzerland the past Friday.
I've had some ups and downs this season and I was pretty happy to have been one of the top 5 women to qualify for this stop! I came into Verbier ranked 4th in the overall rankings and was hoping to better that and also walk away with a podium in the contest.
I had a pretty good line picked out with one big drop at the bottom that I figured would put me on the podium if executed well. When we reached the venue in the morning it was overcast and not ideal for skiing. After a brief weather hold the competition started and by the time the first few female skiers had gone the light started to get flat again.
When I dropped in it was pretty flat light but I tried to make the best of it, while skiing a bit conservative. I reached my final drop and was feeling pretty good til the landing. I think I was a bit back seat and when I tried to recover I uncovered a rock which ultimately took me down. Fortunately no major injuries just a little disappointment.
I did manage to move up one spot in the overall rankings to 3rd! I'm pretty excited to have finished top three this season on the Freeride World Tour!
I'm already focused on making improvements for next season and hopefully taking that top title once and for all!
